How to find the perimeter of a quadrilateral

A quadrilateral is any figure that has four sides . Some examples of quadrilaterals are squares, rectangles, and parallelograms. The perimeter of the quadrilateral is the sum of the length of each side of the quadrilateral. In order to perform the calculation, you have to measure each side of the quadrilateral. If you know the shape of the figure, some shortcuts can be made for the calculation.

You will need to:
  • Measuring tape or ruler
  • Calculator
Steps to follow:

one

Measure each side of the quadrilateral . If the shape is a square, it is only necessary to measure one side. If the shape is a rectangle or a parallelogram, it is necessary to measure two non-parallel sides.

two

Multiply the side measured by 4 to find the perimeter if it has a square. Multiply the two non-parallel sides by 2 and add the results to find the perimeter of a rectangle or a parallelogram.

3

The four sides are added to find the perimeter, if the figure is not a square, rectangle or a parallelogram
