How to find the area, volume and perimeter
Perimeter, area and volume are essential mathematical building blocks of higher mathematical functions, including geometry and calculation. The perimeter is the distance around an object, the area is the amount of space within a two-dimensional figure, and the volume is the amount of space within a three-dimensional object.

Calculate the perimeter by adding the length of all the sides. The final answer is marked with a unit of measurement, such as feet or meters. The circumference of a circle is equal to the length of the diameter multiplied by pi.

Multiply the length and width of a rectangular shape to obtain the area. Perpendicular triangles have an area equal to half the length multiplied by the width.

For circles, multiply pi by the radius twice. The area is written with the measured length squared, such as square inches.

Multiply the length, width and height of a cubic object to obtain the volume. The volume of a cylinder is the area of the round edge, multiplied by the height.

In the same way, the volume of a triangular prism is the area of the base multiplied by the height. Volume of a sphere is four thirds of the radius cubed by pi.

The volume is written with the measurement length in cube, such as cubic centimeters.
Tips- Pi is a constant with an approximate value of 3.14159.
- More complex shapes / objects may not have a mathematical formula to easily calculate the area or volume.
