How to format CD-R in Windows

CD-Rs are a popular way to carry data, and when you no longer need that information, it's easy and quick to erase it. If you want to replace that information with something else, however, be sure to use CD-RW (rewritable CD). The CD-R can only be recorded once, once closed and recorded it can only erase the information but not reuse the CD-R, the only way will be reformatting the CD-R

Steps to follow:

Click on the "Start" menu (the Windows logo button in the lower left corner of your desktop). Select the "My Computer" option in the menu.

Select the CD drive . The CD-R drive appears by right clicking on the unit name. Click on "Open." CD recording opens the task pane.

Click on "Delete this CD-R". This opens the Welcome CD of the Assistant. Select "Next" and confirm that you want to erase this CD.

Once the erase selection has been confirmed, the CD-R disc is automatically erased and reformatted.

You will receive a message on the screen once the process for deleting the CD-R has been completed.
