How to create halftone points

Halftone dots add texture to artwork or photographs, and add that extra stroke to make a very pop graphic with character. Graphic designers are always looking for ways to do their job and stand out, and this confude-eyes effect does the trick. With the use of Photoshop, a popular program for graphic design and photography, the creation of halftone dots is easy.

You will need to:
  • Photoshop
Steps to follow:

one

Open your image in Adobe Photoshop.

two

Open the "Image" menu. Select "Mode" and select "Grayscale". Click on "Discard" when prompted.

3

Open the "Filter" menu. Select "Blur" and select "Frame Blur." If the "Blur Box" does not appear, go to the bottom of the "Blur" and click on the "All products in the menu" submenu. After selecting "Blur Box, " increase the blur effect by up to 20 and click "OK."

4

Open the "Image" menu. Select "Settings" and select "Brightness / Contrast". Lower the brightness and contrast until there is a very dense spot with reasonably large fuzzy edges. Then click on "OK".

5

Open the "Image" menu. Select "Mode" and choose "Bitmap." This opens the conversion window.

6

Select " Halftone Screen " in the conversion window, and click "OK".

7

Use a low number in "Frequency". The smaller the number in this box, the larger the semitone points will be. Eight seems to give a good effect. Be sure to change the shape of the points for "Round", before clicking "OK".
