How to turn off the iPod

iPod is the audio player created by Apple that has revolutionized the audio listening market on mobile devices. It's frustrating to see your iPod's battery run out because you can not figure out how to turn off the device. Although it seems like a joke, turning off an iPod is not an especially intuitive process.

Steps to follow:

one

Turn off the iPod by pressing and holding the "Play / Pause" key for two or three seconds. The screen should go blank, and the iPod will remain off until it is turned on again by pressing and holding the "Play / Pause" button.

two

Put your iPod to "sleep". When the iPod is not used for two or three minutes, it automatically switches to "sleep" mode. The screen will go blank until you touch any of the controls. The standby mode uses much less battery power.

3

Use the "Hold" switch to keep the iPod off. The "Hold" switch is the slide bar on the top of your iPod. When the iPod is put on hold, the screen will crash, which makes it impossible for the iPod to accidentally power up again. It's like locking your cell phone to avoid "pocket calls". In older iPod models this slide bar is in the lower area of the device but always on the side.

4

Restart a badly disconnected iPod by simultaneously pressing the "Menu" and "Select" buttons. It may take a few seconds, but at the end you see the Apple logo appear, and the iPod will reboot.

5

Restart a sleeping iPod by activating a "Hold" switch. This usually works on older iPods. By moving the "Hold" switch back and forth between the inside and outside positions, the click wheel of your iPod should start responding again.

Tips
  • When all else fails, try connecting the iPod to a computer or power adapter.
