How to add effects to a video in iMovie

You are editing a video using iMovie and you would like to give the image a special effect (this is what Instagram has done with you, you can not see the world without filters). Maybe put it in black and white, burn a bit the image, it seems that it has been recorded with an old camera. You imagine a long and complicated process that will end up with the resources of your Mac, but we have good news: it is not like that. Adding filters to a movie in iMovie is very simple. In .com we explain how to add effects to a video in iMovie.

Steps to follow:

one

Open the project in which you are working in iMovie and hover over the video clips of which it is composed (in the inspector on top left). You will see that a white wheel appears with a blue background.

two

Click on the wheel. A drop-down menu will open in which you must choose the option "Clip settings".

3

A new window will open, the Inspector. In the Clip tab (the one that is marked by default), one of the options to configure is Video Effect . Right now it says "None". Click on that button.

4

The window will rotate to show you all the video effects that are available in iMovie . If you pass the mouse over them, you will see in big in the viewer on the right how they are on your video. Click on the effect that you like the most.

5

You will go back to the inspector. Now, in Video effect where before it was "None" appears the name of the chosen Effect (and this has already been applied in the viewer). Click on "OK".

6

Ready! You can now play that video clip and you will see that the effect has been applied.
