How to extend the life of the laptop's battery

Do you remember your laptop when you just bought it? Everything worked perfectly and, besides, it was really portable: the battery really lasted the hours advertised by the manufacturer. Now, however, a couple of years later, everything is different. You have to have the cable always at hand and you have gone to have the computer always plugged in so that it does not turn off in 15 minutes. You do not want it to happen to you again with your next laptop, right? In .com we tell you how to extend the life of the laptop's battery.

Use the battery

An unused battery loses useful life much faster than one that is running. So you know, use it often. If for whatever reason you have to spend a long time without using it, keep it with a load of approximately 40% in a cool and dry place (never completely discharged).

Connect the laptop to the current

This is one of the great myths of laptop batteries, it is bad to use the computer plugged into the power. On the contrary, it is what we must do whenever we can: when the battery is charged, the laptop automatically switches to using only electricity.

Lower the brightness of the screen

One of the elements that consume more battery in laptops is the screen: try to always have the brightness as low as possible (as long as you follow comfortable result) and last longer.

Disable wireless connections

Are you not using wifi? Disable it. The bluetooth either? Turn it off too. And so with all the infrared ports. Although they are not in use, they consume a battery.

Peripherals also consume

How many things do you have plugged into the USB ports of your laptop? How many are you using? Disconnect everything that is not in use, since it is also consuming resources from your battery.

Hibernate instead of suspend

Surely you rarely turn off the laptop and you usually choose to suspend the session by closing the lid. However, it still consumes some energy . If you are going to be without using the computer only for a while, it is advisable to do it, but if the time is going to be longer, look for the option to hibernate that all laptops have already included in a couple of years.

Keep the equipment cool

The heat is bad for the batteries, so the ideal is that the laptop is always in cool places. To avoid overheating, make sure you are not blocking the heat sinks.
