TomTom is one of the most popular brands of GPS navigators, which have helped us to stop getting lost and have to resort to physical maps every time we entered roads we did not know. However, in order for everything to work well it is very important to always have the GPS updated, so that it contemplates the changes that are made in the streets and that it operates in a fluid way. TomTom includes many types of updates. The biggest ones are paid, but there is also the free TomTom Map Share option, which allows you to make corrections by hand on the maps or, as comfortable as possible, install the corrections that TomTom has approved. To do this, the first step is to go to //es.support.tomtom.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9056/locale/es_ES and download the application corresponding to your operating system. When finished, open the file and follow the installation instructions.

Next, connect your TomTom GPS device to your computer using a USB cable. The TomTom Home application will open automatically, but if you see that it does not open it for you. What you will see in that first screen is a list of available updates for your device and a button in the lower right part that says "Update and install".

Review the entire list of available updates and select the ones that interest you (there are many, such as new voices, which are not essential). Next, click on the Update and install button. If the program asks for your username and password, do it. The download of updates will start.

When you have finished downloading and installing the updates, go in your GPS navigator to the "Options" section. There, select the option "Map corrections". You will see a series of corrections to which you can subscribe. Mark the ones that interest you (the best ones are those verified by TomTom, Secure Sources, Many Users or Some Users) and click "Next" and "Finish". This step will make the additional updates made by users and verified install, improving even more your maps.
