Microsoft Office Access

One of the most used programs for the development and processing of databases can be found in the Office Package, it is Microsoft Office Access . To open .db files you must:

  • Click on the "Microsoft Office Access" icon to open this program.
  • Go to the "File" menu and select the "Open" option.
  • Find the .db file you want to open.
  • Double-click on the name of the .db file and the database will start in Access.

In case this does not work, you can try creating a new database and then press the "Import" icon; then you must choose as the file type "Paradox (* .db)" and select the file you want to open.

Microsoft Office Excel

In case you do not have Access, you can also try to open the .db files using Microsoft Office Excel, a program better known to all users. If you want to open your database with this software you have to:

  • Click on the "Microsoft Office Access" icon to open this program.
  • Go to the "File" menu and select the "Open" option.
  • From the section "File type", select the option "All files".
  • Double-click on the .db file you wish to open and it will already be loaded in Excel.

WordPad

Another alternative you have to open .db files is to use WordPad, but you must bear in mind that it will not be shown as a database, although you will be able to read the data. To use this word processor to open this kind of files you will have to:

  • Find the .db file you want to open in the location where you previously saved it.
  • Right click on the file and select the "Open with" option.
  • Go to "Choose program".
  • Deactivate the "Always use the selected program when opening this type of file" box.
  • Click on "Other programs" and search for "WordPad" in the list, so that the file opens with this program.
