How to pay traffic fines online

You have a traffic ticket and want to pay it as soon as possible? You should know that if paid within 30 days after the infraction the DGT applies a discount of 30%, so it will be worth it. It is no longer necessary to go to the headquarters, banks or post offices to pay the traffic fines and waste valuable time on it. The Directorate General of Traffic has launched a system of payment of fines through the Internet . Save your trip and pay the fine without leaving your home. Here we show you how.

Steps to follow:

one

On the DGT website, you should go to the section Procedures and fines to pay traffic fines online. In the case of payment of traffic infractions, you must enter directly the official website of the DGT.

two

If you want to pay the fine with a credit or debit card, you must click on the button saying "Payment of fines (without digital certificate or electronic ID)." There you will access a form that will ask for the following information: number of the identity document (NIE, NIF or DNI), name or business name, surnames, number of the file and amount of the fine (these last two data appear in the notification of the fine).

3

If you have entered your personal information correctly, you will be asked for the details of your credit or debit card below. You must enter the 16 digits of the same, the month and year of expiration and the CVV security code, which is on the back of the card.

4

Once the data has been entered, the result of the operation will appear. It is a ticket that will show the date of payment, the amount, the operation number made, the authorization number of the card issuing financial institution, the registration number assigned by the DGT and a link to see, save or print the proof of payment. We recommend that you print it to keep a receipt. If you do not, it is important then that you write down the registration number assigned by the DGT, so you can request a duplicate receipt of payment.

5

You do not have to worry about the discounts that may apply, since the system will automatically calculate the applicable reductions. For example, a 30% discount reduction will apply if you pay within 30 days after the infraction.

6

Another payment option is available for those who have a digital certificate or electronic ID. In this case you should click where it says 'Payment of fines (with digital certificate or electronic ID)', as long as you have a digital certificate legally recognized by the Administration.

Once the certificate or ID is verified, the process is similar to the previous one, with the addition that you will have access to your infractions history, with the option to pay the pending fines.
