Sometimes we are afraid to address certain types of issues related to mechanics . Fear that we can put aside if it is to clean the carburetor of your motorcycle, you will only need to assemble and disassemble some parts . In this article we explain how to clean the carburetor of your motorcycle, with the aim that you can save labor when visiting a workshop.

Steps to follow:

one

The first thing you must do to clean the carburetor of your motorcycle is to park it in a flat place and turn it off completely to avoid inopportune displacements.

two

Remove the covers where all the motorcycle's operation is (battery, motor, etc.) and locate the carburetor . It sits right in the back of the engine and has a heart shape. Take pictures or make notes to not forget in what way is placed, may arise doubts when re-assemble.

3

Find the gas reserve tank. You will find a lever that can mark different positions, normally ON, OFF and FUEL. Place it in the OFF position in order to avoid fuel drips. Then place a container just below the lever and release the hose. Now change the indicator to ON, and let out about a liter of gasoline, serve to clean the parts.

4

Next, you must remove the carburetor . To do this, open all the connections: the gasoline hose, the electric cable and the accelerator cable. Releases clamps from the air inlet and outlet. Next to a plastic box, next to the battery, there is the air filter and you must loosen its screws. Now the carburetor is loose and you can extract it. It is recommended that you take photos, so as not to forget where everything went when you mounted it.

5

With the carburetor loose, remove the cap that is fitted with two screws on the top and bottom. Be careful with it, and with the small parts of the carburetor. There is one of them really tiny and fragile, like a pencil, that you must extract and then replace.

6

Now you can start cleaning the carburetor: do not use water, only the gasoline that we took out at the beginning and an old toothbrush. If it is very dirty, you can also buy a specialized product for cleaning carburetors - for sale in workshops and mechanics sites - and mix it with gasoline. You must go through your fingers and the brush impregnated in gasoline for all the pieces of metal. Then let them dry on a paper, taking care that there are no particles in the air that can stick. To the pieces of plastic you can pass them a wet cloth and then dry them well with another dry one, before putting them back.

7

Help yourself with the photographs and notes you took at the beginning to relocate all the elements as they were before you started cleaning the carburetor of the motorcycle.
