To install the thermostat in your car, the engine has to be cold. You must empty the radiator, so you have to put the car in an elevator. Then, open the cap of the expansion vessel and place a watertight bucket under the lower radiator hose to collect the coolant. This is toxic and polluting, so you must be careful not to intoxicate or cause harm to the environment. Wearing gloves is essential.

To start the radiator liquid coming out you have to disconnect the lower hose until it is completely empty. Then, completely close the container in which you collected the liquid and remove it to take it to a waste treatment center.

Now, you have to disassemble the previous thermostat, for which you must disconnect the hose or hoses and remove the screws from the cover. Once you access the thermostat, look carefully at your position because you must place the new one. Then, remove it just like the board.

Before installing the new thermostat on your car, use a spatula to remove any remaining gasket left on the cover. Then, place the new thermostat and the annular seal, in case you have it.

Next, use a small amount of joint sealant on the thermostat cover, taking care not to cover the holes where the screws will go. Then glue the new gasket to the cover, apply sealant and put the cover in place. Do not forget to replace the screws, connect the hose (s) and fill the radiator.
