How to install subwoofers in the car

Most car manufacturers do not include subwoofers with the stereo system, the installation process can be complicated, so avoid the hassle of having to buy a structure already assembled and equipped with subwoofers . Make sure you acquire the necessary knowledge, as well as the tools, so that your installation is a success, since an incorrect installation can cause damage to your vehicle

You will need to:
  • Four channel amplifier
  • Subwoofer box
  • Cables recommended by the Manufacturer
  • A Phillips screwdriver
  • Car stereo cables
  • Adhesives with sprayer
  • Rollers
  • Cabinet for Subwoofer
  • Supports
  • Variable speed drills
Steps to follow:

one

Reconfigure the speaker connections of your four-channel amplifier so that the front and rear of the system is using the two front channels of the amplifier. The front channels of the amplification must have a high crossover to work with those speakers.

two

Connect the back channels of the amplifier in "mono", so the amplifier will offer twice the power. The instructions that come with the amplifier will show you how to do this.

3

Connect the subwoofers to the amplifier using a 12 gauss speaker cable (unless instructed otherwise). The back channel of the amplifier must have a low pass crossing.

4

Test which is the best crossing point for subwoofers .

5

It is advisable to use the "L" metal brackets to hold the cabinet. Secure the box to the floor, wall or back cover. Be sure to use silicone around the holder so that air does not escape from the box. Note: If your spare tire is in your trunk (common to most vehicles), you may want to skip this step.

Tips
  • Try changing the location of the subwoofer box in the boot slightly to get the sound you want. You can find the best point for the box of subwoofers to point towards the back or inside the car. When aiming towards the rear, the sound wave has a longer distance to travel, giving more bass as a result. Aiming at the seats will add a more powerful vibration sensation towards the interior but may cause damage to the subwoofer if it is placed too close to the seat.
  • To test the best crossover point for the subwoofer, put the low pass crossover of the amplifier at 100 Hz and touch something in the system. Watch the movement of the subwoofers, the lower the crossover frequency, the lower the movement of the subwoofer. Watch to see if the subwoofers move too much and listen to the music to determine if there is distortion. Most systems run well between 85 or 80 Hz
  • Be sure to seal the box in its correct position and use screws of adequate depth.
  • To deal with vibrations, you can spray the boot with a polyurethane base product, although this can be a bit expensive. A cheap alternative is insulating spray foam that is used around windows and cracks in a house. This can be obtained at a local store.
  • Before placing the supports in the form of "L", check that there is another side of the area that you are going to screw, you do not want to cut a line of gasoline or a cable.
