How a hybrid car works

A hybrid car is one that has two types of engine, one petrol or diesel and another electric, which does not pollute. Engine

A hybrid car has two types of engine:

  • Electric motor. It is the one that makes this type of car non-polluting and that, in most models, works as a priority, as long as it has energy. In addition to being clean, you do not perceive the noise it produces and that is what causes the feeling that the car is off when, for example, you stop at a traffic light.
  • Thermal engine. It can be gasoline or diesel. It is like the one that has a traditional car, but much less powerful, since, basically, it is used when the electric does not have enough energy to move the vehicle.

Batteries

The batteries are usually in the rear of the hybrid car and its function is to provide power to the electric motor. Although some models can be loaded externally, the most common is that they are only loaded with movement.

When the electric motor gives more power than the car needs to circulate, the batteries collect this surplus. The reverse process is also given, that is, when the electric motor no longer has energy, before going to the thermal one, the reserves that are in the battery will be used, if this is the case.
