How to calculate a relationship between the sides of a rectangle

A rectangle has four faces in total, two being two and the same. To find the relationship between two sides of the rectangle, what you need to know are the measurements of the two adjacent sides. You can format your relationship in several ways, such as "1: 2" or "1 to 2" or "1/2". Look at the following article to calculate a relationship between the sides of a rectangle.

You will need to:
  • Measuring tape
Steps to follow:

one

The first thing you have to do if you do not get the measurements of the rectangle, is to measure one side of the rectangle . For example, suppose that one side measures 20 centimeters.

two

Next, measure the non-parallel side of the rectangle. In the example, suppose that the side measures 30 centimeters.

3

Format the sides as a relation by adding a ":" between the two sides measurements. In the example, 20:30.

4

Simplify the relationship by dividing the smallest number by the largest number. In the example, 30 divided by 20 is equal to 1.5. Then you put the first number as 1 and use the result as the second number in the relationship, so in that example, the relationship between the two sides of the triangle is 1: 1.5.

(20/30): (30/30) === 1, 5: 1 === 1: 1, 5
