How to calculate a relationship between the sides of a rectangle
A rectangle has four faces in total, two being two and the same. To find the relationship between two sides of the rectangle, what you need to know are the measurements of the two adjacent sides. The first thing you have to do if you do not get the measurements of the rectangle, is to measure one side of the rectangle . For example, suppose that one side measures 20 centimeters.

Format the sides as a relation by adding a ":" between the two sides measurements. In the example, 20:30.

Simplify the relationship by dividing the smallest number by the largest number. In the example, 30 divided by 20 is equal to 1.5. Then you put the first number as 1 and use the result as the second number in the relationship, so in that example, the relationship between the two sides of the triangle is 1: 1.5.
