How to calculate the probability through a percentage

If you have a percentage or proportion, you can convert the quantities and obtain the probability that a certain event will occur . For example, a relationship says you have a three-way chance of winning a prize. A percentage tells you that there is a 33 percent chance of winning the prize. Using percentages to determine the probability allows you to determine the possibilities on the outcome of an event.

Steps to follow:

one

Find your percentage or proportion. For this example, assume that the percentage is 70 percent and the ratio is 1:10.

two

Divide the first number of the probability by the second number and then multiply the result by 100 to find the percentage probability. In this example, 1 divided by 10 is equal to 0.1, so 0.1 multiplied by 100 is equal to 10%.

3

Divide one by the percentage in decimal form, and then add "1:" to the initial result. Using this example, 1 divided by 0.7 is equal to 1.42, so the probability ratio is 1: 1.42.
